Thomas was the first live birth for Floyd and Helen. He came at the end of the Great Depression. Most of his early life was spent in Tooele and Salt Lake City. Floyd was an organizer for the non-farris mine workers and the family moved in between Tooele and SLC. The family broke up in 1950. Tom and Nanette and soon to be born Johnny lived with Helen and grandpa and grandma Dalton in Tooele. Tom played football and went out for track. He loved to swim too. Met Lila in high school. Left for a 2 year mission for the Church after 6 weeks of marriage. First son Tommy was born while he was on a mission.
